At the height of his career with the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan juggled being a professional basketball player and the father of three children, including son Marcus Jordan.

The NBA legend welcomed Marcus, his second son, in December 1990 with his then-wife Juanita Vanoy. The couple, who were married from 1989 to 2006, have two other children, Jeffrey and Jasmine. Marcus also has siblings, Victoria and Ysabel, from Michael’s second marriage to Yvette Prieto.

Speaking to TMZ Sports in May 2020, Marcus said his father’s fame made for a unique upbringing. Although he and his siblings enjoyed unique opportunities, they also attended public school and were close to their extended family.

Marcus followed in his dad’s footsteps and played basketball in high school and college. He started his career at Loyola Academy and Whitney Young High School before graduating and playing at the University of Central Florida from 2009-2012.

During the interview with Gainesville Sun in February 2011, Marcus said he was immediately drawn to UCF when it came time to choose a college.

“It was my first and last visit,” he said. “I really liked it. The facilities were new and it was definitely a place where I could come in and play right away.”

Marcus also mentioned that Michael gave him some tips for playing college basketball.

“[He] knew how dedicated I was to taking my game to the next level,” Marcus explained to the outlet. “He gave me advice and guidance whenever I had questions and things like that, but really he just told me to stay focused and work hard every day because it will pay off in the end.”

Speaking to TMZ Sports in May 2020, the Trophy Room founder revealed that despite his father’s basketball career, the two mostly play golf together.

“We’re more competitive on the golf course side these days,” he said. “He [Michael] he didn’t build a basketball court in his new house, and apparently he just opened his golf course in February. So you know I played a little golf. He has an advantage over me, but I will eventually catch him.”

Marcus and Larsa joined the cast Traitors season 2 in January 2024 and opened up to PEOPLE about why they want to be on the show.

“Watching the first season, I was kind of hooked,” Marcus said. “Then I also felt that all the content around the game was strictly focused on the game, and didn’t intrude too much into your personal life. And that was a big attraction for me.”

The couple also shared that their relationship status made it difficult for them to play the game – where contestants try to guess who the pre-selected traitors are – but also gave them comfort in going through it together.
