Simone Biles and her younger sister, Adria Biles, have an extremely tight bond.
The sisters, often mistaken for twins, share a passion for flipping and flying through the air. Growing up under the same roof as a two-time Olympian, Adria followed in her older sister’s gymnastic footsteps. Adria was an elite gymnast for 10 years and competed throughout high school. In the author’s text for ESPN, Adria recalled what it was like to grow up in a gymnastics household.
“My sister was always fearless,” she said of Simone. “When we were little kids, we would stand on the railing on the second floor of our house and then jump onto the couch downstairs on the first floor. She would go first and I would follow her. Nothing scared her.”
Although Simone and Adrija are only two years apart, Simone became a mother figure to Adrija at a very young age. Before being adopted by their maternal grandparents, Ronald and Nellie Biles, the Biles sisters spent three years in the foster care system.
“I wanted to take care of Adria obviously because she was a baby,” Simone recalled during an episode of her Facebook Watch series, Simon against himself. “I just felt like I had to look out for her because if the family doesn’t look out for you, who will?”
Adria was with her sister when she won the gold medal in individual and team all-around at the 2024 Olympic Games. “Shut up, I have the best older sisterrrrr,” wrote Adria on her Instagram Stories after Simone’s big wins. “What a fucking boss!! ILYSFM🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍.”

At the age of 3, Simone and her little sister were placed in foster care because their biological mother Sharon was unable to care for them due to her addiction to drugs and alcohol. Simone opened up about her growing up and how that experience affected her and Adria in her Facebook Watch series, Simon against himself.
“I don’t remember a lot about foster care, but I definitely knew that we were taken away from our biological mother and then you just think you’re going to go back to her,” she said in the episode titled “Who Am I?”
The two-time Olympian emphasized that she and Adria were “very happy” that they were not separated while they were in the foster family. They spent three years in the foster care system before their grandparents officially adopted them. Today, Simone calls Ronald and Nellie her parents.
Simone and Adria’s other two siblings, Tevina and Ashley, were adopted by Ronald’s sister and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio.

By 2015, she was competing at Level 9, also known as the Junior Elite level, according to the gymnastics score-tracking website MyMeetScores.com. She competed for a decade before retiring from the sport in 2016.
However, Simone would love to get her sister back on the mat. In 2021, Simone retweeted a study he published Telegraph who found “when a pair of siblings play the same sport professionally, the younger one was more successful.”
She marked Adria in the description writing, “uh oh @adria_biles you better get back to the gym” with a smiley face emoticon, to which Adria answered“No, that’s all your sister.”
Adria doubled down on her answer, confirming that “this is not the case in this case”.

Adria entered the first season under the pseudonym “Louise”. Claim to fame. Lousie, which is Adria’s middle name, tried to confuse the contestants by telling them that her sister is a famous former student athlete. However, she was eliminated halfway through after “Logan,” better known as Jason Aldean’s younger cousin, correctly guessed her identity.
Looking back, Adria admitted that she was surprised to have made it this far. “I played the game and I wasn’t mad that I left because I was pretty good and stayed longer than a lot of people expected,” said Adria USA Today after her elimination.
Although Adria’s claim to fame wasn’t far from the truth, she said her famous sister is “totally normal” and contrary to popular belief, Simone “doesn’t run around the house.”
“We still fight sometimes and I steal her clothes,” said Adria and added “We are like best friends.”

“It was funny to watch her go from normal Simone to famous Simone. Even in Brazil, people approached me everyday thinking I was her. They would ask for autographs and take pictures,” she said.
While the Biles sisters have similar facial features and a strong, athletic build, Adria pointed out that she is a full six centimeters taller than her sister. “We look alike, I admit that to them. But I’m about 5-foot-2. Simone’s 4-foot-8,” she said. “I’m a good head taller than her. When we’re next to each other, people can definitely tell us apart.”

She is very supportive of Simone’s gymnastics career
Adria has always been Simone’s biggest supporter, especially when it came to her race at the Tokyo Olympics. She was quick to defend Simone’s decision to pull out of more events after suffering from the “twisties” and to focus on her mental health.
“Thank you for being an inspiration to me and everyone around you, thank you for making people feel the validity of their feelings, thank you for being you and thank you for being the best older sister in the world,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Okay, now I’m going to go cry because you’re the best person I know, I love you, sister.”
