Teri Hatcher is perhaps best known for her starring role as Susan Mayer in Housewives, but her number one priority is – and always has been – her daughter, Emerson Rose Tenney.

Hatcher shared Emerson with her ex-husband of nine years, Will & Grace actor Jon Tenney. The couple married in 1994 and divorced in 2003. In March 2006, Hatcher opened up about co-parenting with her ex.
“I never wanted Emerson to have parents in different households and I will always feel guilty that he has to go back and forth,” she told The Irish Examiner 2006 “But her dad and I are working really hard to make it as easy as possible for her, and I honestly think she’s OK.”
Hatcher explained that as a single mother she had to make sacrifices, but she is happy with the decisions she made.
“My daughter is old enough now that it’s easier, without the guilt [to have a social life], but there were some lonely nights. I wouldn’t change it.”

Emerson was born on November 10, 1997. She is a Scorpio and seems to be passionate about her star sign. To mark her 26th birthday, she shared a photo of her Scorpio birthday cake, along with a series of astrology-themed memes. The eye-catching cake was in the shape of a heart, had blue and white frosting, and the word Scorpio was written next to the blue scorpion.
“It’s my birthday and I will unapologetically indulge my Scorpio tendencies if I want to!! ❤️🔥🗡️🪩😈🕯️👑🥳”, she wrote in the description.
In November 2023, Emerson and Hatcher headed to Las Vegas and visited the club to celebrate Emerson’s 26th birthday.
“So my daughter just turned 26 and she wanted to go to Las Vegas,” she explained during an interview with Conversation. “We stayed at the Wynn Hotel.”
She worked as a voice actress
Following her parents into the world of entertainment, Emerson lent her voice to a variety of voice roles. In 2009, she voiced the Magic Dragonfly in a stop-motion animated film Coralineand in 2013 she voiced several characters in Disney’s Airplanes.

During high school, Emerson volunteered at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and helped raise funds for the hospital’s Child Life playroom. In an interview with LinkedIn in 2015, she explained that charity work brings her a lot of joy and that she feels proud of what she does.
“I am most proud when I see that my charitable contributions have a positive effect on someone,” she said. “When I work at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, some of my favorite moments are making pipe cleaner butterflies and paper snowflakes with the patients.”
Continuing her charity work and writing career, she previously ran a blog, Reachandsafe.com, to inspire others to do good as well.
“That’s really what I see in ReachandSafe: a place that inspires young people to do good in their communities by setting an example that shows you don’t have to be an adult to have a global impact,” she said.

Hatcher appeared in every episode Housewiveswhich ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012. Emerson would often visit Hatcher on set and sometimes cook for her mom and her cast members.
“My daughter loves to cook. She brought an enchilada dish that she made herself to the set,” Hatcher told PEOPLE at the time. “She likes it very much.”

On November 4, 2018, Emerson and Hatcher ran the New York City Marathon together on behalf of the charity Save the Children. It was Hatcher’s second marathon and she expected it would feel different to run it with her daughter rather than solo.
“We have a really close and great relationship, but I think she would say, and I agree with that, that this is different than just going on a trip or hanging out together,” Hatcher told PEOPLE in August 2018.
“Something about the ups and downs of training for such a physical feat as a marathon — that kind of vulnerability, the adversity you have to go through and breaking through walls together — and that experience as a team; it’s just a bonding thing that you can’t really replace or have from any other experience. And I think we both wanted it together,” she added.

The mother-daughter duo often attend events together, and in January 2024, Emerson and Hatcher stepped out at Berlin Fashion Week and had a twin style moment.
Sitting front row at the Marc Cain show in a matching purple outfit, Hatcher wore a purple tea-length dress with sheer long sleeves and feather cuffs, while Tenney wore a daring purple skirt suit.
