Allison Holker Says Living in Former Home After Stephen 'tWitch' Boss’ Death Was a 'Security Blanket' but It ‘Started to Swallow Us’

Allison Holker had to go home with her late husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss.

In the new one Richer lives In a SoFi podcast interview published Tuesday, Oct. 8, the professional dancer, 36, opened up about how her career, family and finances changed overnight after tWitch’s sudden death by suicide at age 40 in December 2022.

Holker and Boss have three children – Zaija, 4, and Maddox, 8, and Weslie, 16.

“That home was our security blanket for a very long time. We loved that home. We always felt so safe, but there was a twist,” Vivian Tu told the host from the family’s property in Encino, California.

“And a lot of people don’t talk about it after the grief is like I was holding on to those past emotions, thinking they were saving me, but it started to consume us, and it was a very, very big decision to uproot my children. Their lives have already changed so much,” she continued.

Holker admits that while the home was filled with memories, it “started to swallow us up.”

“I asked myself, ‘Is it okay for me to do this to them?’ It was the best decision for us, because when we moved, we bought a new home and it became our refuge. It was like the last step in our healing, where now we can put it in the past and we can finally take a step forward for each other. And that became freedom,” the So you think you can dance? the alum said.

The mother of three was grateful that their new home “became a place to find solace and make new memories and new beginnings and new beginnings.”

“And everybody kind of felt like a burden had been lifted off our shoulders. But it’s a very big decision, because, you know? We are already grieving,” she added.

They bought the former house in 2019, and in 2021 they shared photos of their redesign.

At the time, Holker told PEOPLE that she “really wanted the home to feel like a sanctuary for us where we could breathe together and just make memories in this really warm space.”

The Encino estate sold for $3.525 million in November 2023.

In August, Holker quietly started a new romance a year and a half after tWitch’s death. Her new partner was later revealed to be technology executive Adam Edmunds.
