Growing up, she started her cricketing journey playing gully cricket with the boys near her home in Mohali Phase 5. In an interview, she recalled her childhood and said:
I have loved sports since I was a child. I played cricket with the kids in the colony. We used to have inter-colonial competitions and from then on I had the competitive spirit to do well in the sport. Apart from cricket, I also play hockey, football and handball. I represent my school APJ Smart School in these inter-school level sports. “
She began formal cricket training at the age of 15 but soon gave it up to focus on her Class 10 exams. After completing her Class 10 exams, she joined the Cricket Academy in Sector 26, Chandigarh. Although the women’s quota in the academy was full, Amanjot played in the nets for a while before coach Dipendar Chabbra directed her to start coaching BCCI Level II cricket at the Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS) Trained under Nagesh Gupta. ), District 32. She represented Punjab in the Under-19 and Under-23 categories. In 2018, she was selected to represent the Indian Green Team in the Women’s U19 T20 Challenger Cup. After playing for Punjab for a few years, she moved to Chandigarh to attend college. Chandigarh joined the BCCI in 2019, after which she started playing for the United Territory Cricket Association Chandigarh (UTCA). In 2019, she became the captain of the Chandigarh women’s cricket team. - In an interview, she revealed that her carpenter father handmade her first bat. One day in her childhood, Amanjot Kaur was playing cricket with the neighborhood boys, but the boys refused to let her bat. Explaining the reason behind it, they said “She doesn’t have a bat.” However, Amanjot explained that the real reason is different. A few days ago she spanked a boy over boundaries. This hurt the boys. She had nothing to do that night. Her father, Bhupinder Singh, sensed something was wrong. Later, when she confessed what happened that night to her father, he immediately started his motorcycle, went to his workshop, and came back late at night with the wooden sticks he had carved. He placed the bat next to her and left home early for work.
