Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Share Never-Released Statements They Drafted Before Their Relationship Was Exposed

Amy Robach and TJ Holmes were ready to go public with their romance before they were announced as a couple. Now the couple is sharing how they wanted to tell the world about their love — and their divorces.

In their Wednesday episode The Amy & TJ Podcastformer GMA3: What you need to know The co-hosts were responding to a fan’s question about why the couple did not “vehemently” confront the allegations surrounding their romance when it first hit the news last year.

On December 5, 2022, the duo was “temporarily” removed from the daytime television program as gossip about them reached its peak. And although Robach, 50, and Holmes, 46, have put together statements to explain their side of the story, they’ve refrained from sharing them so as not to add to the drama.

“Maybe it would be better if we did [released the statements],” Robach admitted, “but we were trying to keep our jobs.”

She explained, “I’ve never had to put pressure on myself,” so she thought it would be best to take the advice of others around her and keep quiet.

As Robach discussed this dilemma on the podcast, Holmes pulled statements that never made it out of the draft folder.

“The email as I look at it in bold and underlined capital letters, it says ‘AMY,'” Holmes began. she then read a statement: “My divorce is almost finalized after we decided to separate. TJ and I have been friends for years and our relationship has only evolved in recent weeks. I am seeking privacy for my family as we continue to heal.”

Immediately afterwards, Holmes read his: “After a month’s separation, I am in the final stages of a divorce, a process which has been difficult and which my family – for their sake – hoped to keep secret. I have leaned on my closest friend during this painful period and very recently, that friendship has become more. Out of respect for my family, I request privacy at this time.”

Robach and Holmes first sparked romance rumors on November 30, 2022, after photos surfaced of them holding hands in a car while vacationing in upstate New York and cozying up at a bar in New York City. At the time, Robach was still married to actor Andrew Shue, while Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig.

In the debut episode of their The Amy & TJ Podcastthe duo described themselves as “people who lost jobs we love because we love each other.”

“That’s the bottom line and that’s why we’re here now,” Holmes said, while Robach noted how they “went through a year of hell” to end up in “the most beautiful relationship I’ve ever had in my life.”

“In the end, we’re all always rooting for love,” she said. “It doesn’t always happen when you want it to happen, where you want it to happen. And it’s undeniable when it’s real and something you have to navigate, and it’s not easy.”

“Relationships are difficult, they are messy, they are not perfect, but we fought for love and I can say that I have never been happier. I am with my best friend,” she added.

Adding that he is “the happiest and healthiest alive,” Holmes continued, “Bottom line, we didn’t say this: I’m in love with this woman, and she’s in love with me, and we’re planning a life together.”
