Amy Robach Says She and T.J. Holmes Are 'on the Fence' About Marriage Even Though She Wears a 'Promise' Ring Around Her Neck

Amy Robach and TJ Holmes are “on the fence” about marriage.

Months after making their red carpet debut at iHeartRadio’s annual Jingle Ball in Los Angeles, the couple have been discussing whether they’ll ever say “I do.”

“I want to marry you. I don’t need to. I want to be married to you. And that’s a whole other thing when we’re sitting here talking about engagement rings and joint accounts,” Holmes said in the latest episode of their The Amy and TJ Podcast.

Robach, 51, noted that marriage is something she and Holmes, 46, have experienced long before dating.

“Interestingly, now, with the choice before us whether to get married or not, we’re kind of on the fence and we laugh about it because it doesn’t matter because we know we want to be with each other. We want to get married,” she continued. “We don’t necessarily get married because of what it represents. It’s over for everyone else, not for you.”

Robach explained that the two watched shows where couples were “overwhelmed” by the idea of marriage.

“On those shows, they say, ‘Oh, man. This is not what I thought it was going to be. This is not what I signed up for,’ because the focus wasn’t on the person,” Robach said, noting that “we’ve all been there.”

“I’m excited about all of that, and the ring, and the wedding dress, and all of that. But at the end of the day, it’s about the relationship and most importantly, it’s about the communication,” she said.

Talking about what they thought of promise rings, Holmes added, “I’m just going to make a promise ring because things might not work out. I get it. It’s probably a safe thing to do with the numbers, but something about it feels weird as I sit here with you with the ring around your neck.”
