Amy Robach opens up about what reality TV shows taught her about dating.

During the latest episode Amy & TJ podcast, which was released Thursday, Robach, 51, and her boyfriend TJ Holmes joined Bachelor alum Matt James to discuss the reality dating show franchise and his relationship with his former co-star Rachael Kirkconnell.

Robach noted that she has watched the show and its various spin-offs with her daughters and found it to be “family viewing because you learn about relationships and how people interact with each other.”

“Look, I don’t think it gets credit for what you just said,” replied Holmes, 46. “People often say it’s just reality. It’s trash TV or this isn’t the way you’re supposed to find love. How can you did this work? But I think you hit on something no matter what. I think we’re all calm, we want love to work.”

“We’re cheering,” he continued. “We have that hope in us no matter what, and then later we become cynical. But I think in the beginning we root for people and we root for love.”

And I know there’s cameras there and it’s partly fantasy, but there’s something real realities in those conversations that I found to be interesting and insightful at times.”
