Poland’s president is scheduled to travel to the Netherlands for business.

President Duda will be received by the King at Noordeinde Palace on Tuesday, October 29, in the morning. After the guard of honor’s inspection, there will be an audience and lunch, both of which Her Majesty Queen Maxima will attend. During the lunch, both the King and the President will make speeches. They will next journey together to Breda to take part in the city’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

Breda was freed on October 29, 1944, by the 1st Polish Armoured Division, which was commanded by General Stanislaw Maczek. The next day, Breda’s mayor, Bartholomeus van Slobbe, granted General Maczek and his entire division the freedom of the city as an expression of his thanks.

The city’s liberation by Polish soldiers is commemorated by monuments in several places. Breda will commemorate its connection to its liberators for the entire month of October.

The start of the tour will be at the Polish War Cemetery, where 160 Polish troops who died during the liberation of Breda are interred. Also interred here is General Maczek, who passed away in 1994. At the cemetery, both the King and President Duda will place wreaths.
