This two-part BBC documentary shows the bad side of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The documentary was criticized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which called it a “propaganda film that lacks objectivity and reflects a colonial mentality.” The central government’s move has been sharply criticized by opposition parties such as the Congress and TMC for implementing censorship. The documentary was scheduled to be screened at the Congress regional headquarters on Republic Day 2023, as the country has not announced a ban on the documentary. Anil’s tweet read:
Despite the deep differences with the BJP, I think those (Indian) people compare the BBC, a state-funded channel with a long history of (so-called Indian) bias, to Jack Straw (Iraq) Placing the views of those behind the war over (Indian) institutions is setting a dangerous precedent that will undermine our sovereignty.”
