Anil Gupta is an Indian tattoo artist and graphic designer now living in the United States, famous for his exquisite style of miniature portrait tattoos as well as stamps of works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Van Gogh Famous for large and small tattoos. He is considered one of the top inkers in the United States.

Anil Gupta was born in Bombay, the Presidency of British India (now Mumbai, Maharashtra). He studied at Dr. Antonio da Silva High School, Dadar, Mumbai, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sir J. J. Art College, Mumbai, India. In 1991, he moved to the United States to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer graphics.

Anil learned the art of tattooing from him and earned 25 Indian rupees as a weekend job. In an interview, Anil said of his early career:
In the ’80s, when I first started, it wasn’t profitable, that’s for sure. Creatively, we were limited to what we thought was popular at the time. Over the past decade or so, the scope of what we can do has expanded. “

He started his tattoo career mainly in Mumbai, India and moved to New York, USA in 1991 where he became the owner of an ink studio called “Inkline Studio”. Prior to 1997, tattooing and acupuncture were illegal in the United States. In an interview, Anil spoke about his early days as an artist and said:
At that time, the Gulf War had just ended and the United States was in an economic recession. Job opportunities were scarce and people stopped hiring and looking for work as an artist was out of the question. That’s when I started tattooing again. “
Anil enjoys spiritual, nature and portrait tattoos. In addition to these forms, he also specializes in biomechanical tattoos.

- Anil Gupta is listed as one of the most expensive tattoo artists in the world. His consulting fee is $450 per hour and the consulting fee is $200. Clients make appointments six months in advance.
- He is also known as the HR Giger of the tattoo world and likes to mix fantasy, horror and biomechanical tattoos.
- In an interview, Anil stated that he considers Lee Jong-koo and Derek Hess to be his favorite visual artists.
