Professionally, Anita began her legal career as an associate at the Washington, DC District of Columbia law firm Wald, Harkader, and Ross is a law firm. After a year in 1981, she became a legal advisor to Clarence Thomas. Clarence was the Assistant Secretary of Education for the Office of Civil Rights at the time. Similarly, when Thomas became chairman of the US Equal Opportunity Commission in 1982, Hill was his assistant. She left her job in 1983 to become an assistant professor at Oral Roberts University’s Evangelical Christian OW Coburn School of Law.
Hill later joined the faculty of the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1986, where she taught commercial law and contracts. Likewise, she taught for a decade. Anita was also a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley before joining the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
On October 11, 1991, Anita accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment. Former US President George Bush nominated Clarence to be a federal district judge in 1991.
