Ankit’s grandmother met Pallavi on a train from Kanpur to Delhi in 2017 and after a normal conversation, she found that Pallavi was a perfect match for her grandson Ankit. Later, he got married to mechanical engineer Pallavi Shukla on February 23, 2018. The couple has a baby girl, Aryaa Tiwari.

His first job was as a production executive at “Radio Chaska”, a radio station in Gwalior. In 2008, he moved to Mumbai with his brother to try his hand at becoming a playback singer. Ankit and his brother stayed in Mumbai along with Anuj Kumar, who worked as a photographer in Viral. Ankit started his career by composing songs for television commercials. His first break came as a music composer in the film Do Dooni Chaar (2010). His first song as a singer in a Bollywood film was “Saheb Bada Hathila” in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), but he failed to gain recognition.

Later, Mahesh Bhatt heard him singing and asked him to lend his voice for the song “Sunn Raha Hai” in “Aashiqui 2” (2013), which became an instant hit. He has lent his voice to more hit songs including Roy’s “Tu Hai Ki Nahi” (2015), Airlift’s “Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi” (2016), Sanam Re’s “Tere Liye” (2016). He has worked as music director in Bollywood films such as “PK” (2014), “Khamoshiyan” (2015), “Tum Bin 2” (2016) and “Sadak 2” (2020). He has appeared in music videos such as “Badtameez” (2016), “Mehbooba” (2018) and “Tere Do Naina” (2019). On December 15, 2022, Ankit Tiwari launched his own music label Mist Music.

- Ankit was arrested from Versova, Mumbai on May 8, 2014; his girlfriend reported to the police station that he raped her on false promise of marriage. She also filed a complaint against Ankit’s brother for threatening her. The respondent failed to prove Ankit and his brother’s guilt and the court discharged them from all charges in April 2017.
- In July 2018, cricketer Vinod Kambli and his wife attacked Ankit Tiwari’s father at a shopping mall in Mumbai over an incident with Kambli. Brie’s wife engaged in inappropriate behavior. Later, when the CCTV footage of the mall was examined, all the accusations were proven false.
