Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell’s Sister Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird Shares Touching Family Photo from Early Days of Chemo

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird remembers her sister Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, who died Saturday at the age of 29.

On Monday, the 23-year-old shared a series of photos of some moments spent with her sister over the years on her Instagram Story. She included a family photo of Cardwell from the start of cancer treatment.

Cardwell was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer in January and began chemotherapy in March.

“One of her first rounds of chemotherapy,” Efird wrote alongside a hospital photo featuring her mother, reality TV star Mama June Shannon, and her 18-year-old sister, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson.

On Sunday, Shannon, 44, first announced via an Instagram post that Cardwell, her oldest daughter, had died.

“It is with a broken heart that we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us,” she wrote alongside a family photo. “She passed away peacefully in my home last night at 11.12 pm.”

Cardwell’s death comes after Shannon shared a plea on Instagram on Friday, asking her followers to keep her family in their thoughts.

“We are all asking for prayers for our family as we go through this process, we really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers and will let you know when we can just know all your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated at this time,” she wrote Shannon said in her post, adding the hashtag “#CancerSucks.”
