Anna Sorokin is back on Instagram.
Sorokin — also known as Anna Delvey — had previously lost control of her social media as part of her ongoing immigration case, but on August 16, her Instagram came back to life.
She posted a carousel of pictures, taken outside, with the simple caption “Stockholm syndrome.” Photographs taken by Oliver Halfin show Sorokina posing surrounded by flowers in a garden, in a car, enjoying the outdoors and showing some freedom amid her ongoing house arrest.

Sorokin has been banned from social media as part of an ongoing immigration case, stemming from her original 2019 grand larceny charges. On April 25, 2019, Sorokin was found guilty of eight charges, including attempted grand larceny in the first degree, grand larceny in the second degree, aggravated theft in the third degree and theft of services. That May, she was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in state prison, fined $24,000 and ordered to pay restitution of about $199,000.

She went to prison but was released earlier in 2021. However, Sorokin was then detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement for overstaying his visa in March of that year.
On October 5, 2022, Sorokin was released from an ICE facility in Orange County, NY, but then had to post $10,000 bail, give up social media, and was placed under house arrest. He is currently serving house arrest in upstate New York, where he lives with well-known fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone.

Sorokin was first arrested for posing as a German heiress and defrauding society, banks and hotels. At the time of her arrest in 2017, she was estimated to have stolen $275,000. She’s been labeled a “fake heiress” since her story made headlines, but as she recently told PEOPLE, she’s tired of the moniker.
“I hate it,” Sorokin said of the label she’s been assigned. – I think it’s the worst thing that happened in my life.

Now that Sorokin is back on her social media, she plans to be more active and share what she’s been up to — including giving her stamp of approval on America’s newest reality show Anonymouswhich is all about “deception”.
Still, she tells PEOPLE that she’s looking forward to what’s next and is grateful to those who have helped her with her ongoing case.
“I would like to thank Judge Conroy and my attorneys John Sandweg and Catherine Hunstad for helping me reactivate my social media — the First Amendment is more important now than it has ever been,” Sorokin told PEOPLE exclusively on August 19. “And I also want to thank the over 1 million fans who have been waiting for my return — I’m really excited about my future and look forward to sharing more news soon.”
