Art is imitating life (or rather work) for Nicholas Galitzine!
The The idea of you the actor revealed in a recently published video interview with British GQ that co-star Anne Hathaway gave him a unique and thoughtful gift after they finished filming the whirlwind romance directed by Michael Showalter.
“We had a lot of make-up scenes,” said Galitzine, 29. “A lot of times our intimate coordinator would come in and give us Listerine tapes. And we used them so much that Annie was kind enough to commission a Listerine tape painting for me.”
“And now it’s hanging in my apartment. And I think about that movie every time I watch it,” he joked.

Nicholas Galitzine says attention to his appearance makes him feel like ‘a piece of beef at a meat market’
Based on Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel of the same name. The idea of you won over the audience with his love story, especially the chemistry between Galitzina and Hathaway (41).
The film follows a 40-year-old mother and art gallery owner named Solène Marchand (Hathaway), who struggles with her identity after a painful divorce from her husband Daniel (Reid Scott). Things take a turn when she takes her 16-year-old daughter Izzy (Ella Rubin) to Coachella and forms a relationship with Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), a pop star who fronted the boy band August Moon.
As they embark on a romance and jet set around the world, Solène discovers a whole new side of herself. Of course, their relationship isn’t without a few obstacles, as Solène deals with the intrusive spotlight that comes with dating a celebrity — as well as the attention surrounding their age difference, both in the public eye and in her personal circle.
Namely, art plays a big role in their relationship, with Hayes buying all the pieces in Solène’s gallery at the beginning of the film in an attempt to impress her—and even a special piece for Solène herself at the end of the film, before the gallery becomes the setting for his final scene.

The idea of you Ending Explained: What happens to Solène and Hayes?
At the film’s SXSW premiere in March, Hathaway told PEOPLE that both she and her character, Soléne, consider themselves “adventurers” when it comes to love, as she pondered why to create The idea of you it was so important to her.
“At the beginning of the movie, the character … she’s really afraid to go on that adventure because she had such a difficult experience with her ex-husband,” said the Oscar winner. “And for me, I was incredibly moved by the opportunity to tell the story of a woman who blossoms.”
“I don’t know why we don’t have more stories about human beings who flourish at any age. We’re always getting older, all the time,” she added.
