Anthony Anderson Jokes He’s ‘Not as Young as I Used to Be’ After Movie Stunt ‘Gone Wrong’ Sent Him to ER

Anthony Anderson is in good spirits after being hospitalized for an injury on a film set.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the 53-year-old actor posted a photo of himself smiling as he lay on a hospital gurney, writing that a movie stunt “gone wrong” resulted in the injury.

“Spent the night in the ER. Movie fight gone wrong. Me vs. two thugs and a chair! Guess who didn’t win!” Anderson joked. “Who needs a stuntman? Me, that’s who! I’m not as young as I used to be!”

The actor said he had a CT scan and X-rays that “didn’t show anything broken or broken in my back, just a deep contusion.”

“That chair will never be the same though! Bloody and bent, but never broken!” he added. In another post, Anderson shared a photo of a chair “that crushed me last night!”

“Something about it is menacing!” he wrote. “He punched me in the kidneys and back without any mercy! When I came to the set today, he was grinning at me! He didn’t even know I got something for that ass! He went to study today!”

In the comments section of his hospital photo, Anderson’s Black-like Costar Tracee Ellis Ross wrote, “you’re not made of rubber. I’m so glad you’re okay.”

“Realize that you’re in the rejection business and the ‘no’ business. Eventually, someone will say ‘yes,'” he added of his acting career. “What we do is subjective anyway. As long as you’re ready and you’ve done your job to the best of your ability, you can go to sleep at night.”

“Always be prepared because you never know when that opportunity will present itself. Stay prepared so you don’t waste time preparing,” Anderson continued. “You can’t wish for it sooner than when it’s meant to come. Never compete with another person because you don’t know their path. Be competitive with yourself, but never with another person.”
