Anand Mahindra proposed to her by giving her a ring that belonged to his grandmother. He was studying for his bachelor’s degree at Boston University and took a semester off to marry her. After getting married, the couple moved to the United States to continue their studies at Boston University.

In 1995, she founded Verve magazine, India’s first indigenous monthly luxury lifestyle magazine for women. She is also the editor and publisher of Verve magazine.
