Anuradha Roy (born 1967) is an Indian novelist, journalist, and editor. She is the author of five novels, including Atlas of Impossible Longing (2008), The Folded Earth (2011), Sleeping on Jupiter (2015), As We Have Never Experienced All Life” (2018) and “Earth Spinner” (2021).

Anuradha Roy was born in 1967 in Kolkata (56 years old in 2023) and grew up mainly in Hyderabad, India. She studied literature at Presidency College, Calcutta, and Newhall (now Murray Edwards College), Cambridge University, England. She returned to look after her mother for a while, then moved north to Derry and found a job at Oxford University Press. Anuradha Roy and her husband currently live in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand, with their dog.

Her first novel, Atlas of Impossible Desire, was named a best book of the year by The Washington Post, The Seattle Times, and The Huffington Post, among others. In 2022, she became a resident of the Maison des Écrivains Étrangers et des Traducteurs (Foreign Writers and Translators) in Saint-Nazaire, France, and has been a guest speaker at Cornell University and the University of Cordoba. She has appeared at literary events around the world as well as on the BBC, CBC and other television and radio channels. Advani, a graphic designer, and Roy founded Permanent Black in 2000, a publishing company focused on academic literature. Anuradha Roy has written articles and reviews published in various Indian newspapers and magazines including The Indian Express, The Telegraph and The Hindu. American magazines and newspapers such as Orion and Noema have also published her articles. In the UK, her work has been published in The Guardian, The Economist and, most recently, in John Freeman’s A Tale of Two Planets.

- In 2004, Anuradha Roy won first prize in the Indian Outlook/Picador Non-Fiction Competition for Women Who Cook.
- In 2011, “The Folded Earth” was shortlisted for the Hindu Literary Award, and in 2011, it was shortlisted for the Mann Asian Literary Award. In 2011, her second novel, The Folding Earth, won the Economist Crossword Prize.
- Her third novel, Sleeping on Jupiter, won the 2016 DSC South Asian Literary Award and was longlisted for the 2015 Man Booker Prize.
