- In an interview, while talking about Bharatendhu Academy of Dramatic Arts, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, he said:
I was a student of Professor Raj Bisaria and what I learned from him was very valuable. We were lucky that in that era of 1984-85 we had the best teachers. We used to have guest lecturers from the National School of Drama in Delhi come for classes. So BNA ka bahut bada haath hai meri kala ko nikharne mein. People think acting is an innate talent, which is true, but academies hone the skill and teach you how to use it. This is what BNA did to me. “
- He likes reading very much.
- In an interview, he recalled his old days in Lucknow and said:
Those days were really carefree. Sharma Chaat in Hazratganj is my favorite restaurant. I used to love his paani ke batashe. Aaj bhi agar mein Lucknow aata hoon toh wahan ki chaat zaroor khata hoon. Phir Hanuman Setu mera chakkar zaroor lagta tha. I’ve always been a movie buff. Once I went to Hanuman Setu and told Hanuman ji ki aaj agar picture nahi dikhayi toh kal se darshan karne nahi aaunga. “
He continued,
Seriously, my friend and I walked outside Gulab Cinema and someone came up to me and tapped me on the shoulder and said “Yeah, tickets”. I told him I didn’t have money to pay so he said “free mein jao picture dekho”. Bas Phir Toh main Roz Mandir jaane laga. One time we went to the swimming pool and my friend Ram who used to study at La Martiniere said ki aaj picture dekhne ka mann ho raha hai. Trust me, while swimming, we saw a 10 rupee note near the swimming pool. Bas Phir kya tha, let’s go straight to the movies. Toh aisi yaadein hain Lucknow ki. “
