Anurag Malu

Anurag Maloo is an Indian mountaineer, entrepreneurial mentor, social activist and engineer. In April 2023, he made headlines after he disappeared and was presumed dead off Annapurna, Nepal.

Anurag Maloo was born on Monday 13th June 1988 in Jishangarh, Rajasthan, India (age 34 until 2022). His zodiac sign is Gemini. From 2002 to 2004, he attended Maheshwari Public School in Ajmer, Rajasthan, where he scored 91% in Mathematics and 93% in Science in Year 10.

In 2004, he enrolled at Modi Public School in Kota, Rajasthan and took the PCM course. In 2006, he completed his studies at Modi Public School with a 97% in Mathematics. From 2006 to 2007, he attended the IIT-JEE tutoring course at Bansal Classes in Kota. In the same year, he appeared for the IIT-JEE exam and successfully obtained AIR 6701. However, he failed to make the final merit list. Won the CET Outstanding Annual Scholarship in 2007. In the same year, he attended University College of Information, Communication and Technology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, where he scored 67.77 CPI and obtained a Bachelor of Information Technology in 2011, Anurag in 2009 Summer Internship at Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO), New Delhi from June to July 2009. From August 2009 to May 2010, he was an intern at Career Launcher. Anurag served as Secretary General of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE) Student Forum from 2009 to 2010. From June 2010 to July 2010, he worked as a summer trainee at Apex SoftWeb Pvt Ltd. In 2010, he was selected as the Vice-Chancellor of GGSIPU to attend the Chancellor’s Camp organized at Mangalayathan University, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. In September 2012, he was awarded a Certificate in Leadership Development Program by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). He completed the course ‘Embracing Commonwealth Youth Development Values’ (e-Learning – delivered online) in September 2012 as part of the Commonwealth Youth Scholarship Program run by Commonwealth Learning. In January 2020, he received the Business Leadership Certification from Southern. East Asian Leadership Academy (SEALA). He received NovoEd’s Spring 2020 Venture Fellowship, a joint venture between Techstars and Kauffman Fellows. In 2021, he underwent the Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) from the Nehru Mountaineering Institute in Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand.

Hiking and climbing

In 2013, Anurag Malu was appointed as India’s 2041 Antarctic Youth Ambassador and was selected as a scientific expedition member of the International Antarctic Research Team.

Anurag Maloo became interested in mountain climbing after reading the story of Bachendri Pal. Bachendri Pal was the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. In 2020, he participated in the Three Pass Trail Challenge hike in Nepal with Bachendri Pal. In 2021, he participated in the Ladakh Twin Peaks Expedition and climbed two peaks: Kang Yatze (6300 m) and Dzo Jongo (6250 m). Anurag then set out to climb all fourteen of the eight thousand peaks in the world and the seven highest peaks on all seven continents to raise awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. To spread awareness, he climbed several peaks in October 2022, including Noon Mountain and Kunshan Mountain in Ladakh.

In 2022, he successfully climbed the 5,359-meter Satopans mountain in Uttarakhand. In the same year, he announced his participation in the “Finding My Mount Everest Challenge” and will climb Mount Everest in 2023. In April 2023, he traveled to Nepal to summit Annapurna, the tenth highest mountain in the world. .
