Health officials explore the fatal epidemic of the listings associated with desserts thrown out in NHS hospitals.
Three people died and two people were hospitalized after eating puddings contaminated with bacteria, the British Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Food Standards (FSA) agency said.

Health agencies are investigating a total of five cases of Listeria monocytogenes at NHS hospitals across the country, which were marked between May and December 2024.
Two cases were observed in hospitals in Yorkshire and Humbera, and one each in the northwest, West Midlands and Wales.
Patients were between 68 and 89 and all had a fundamental health condition for which they were hospitalized.
Three of them passed away, and Listeria monocytogenes was reported as the cause of death for one patient.
Officials suspect that mousses and ice creams have been made by a Cool Delight dessert as a source of breath that causes diarrhea.
All the cooled desserts, including ice cream, ice cream, mousses and yoghurts delivered by the company to NHS and the care homes, FSA reminded as a precautionary measure.
“These products must be withdrawn from the service and placed in quarantine while the investigations last,” the health care guard said on standby.
But health officers are still trying to determine if other sources can be guilty.
Lysteria can cause a disease called listeriosis – a rare infection from consuming contaminated foods.

FSA said that Listeria was discovered in two flavors of cool enthusiasm mousse – chocolate and vanilla, strawberry and vanilla – last month during routine testing at the NHS hospital in southwestern England.

Officials recommend health institutions do not serve desserts from Cool Delight – which have a two -hour shelf life – until further notice.

What is Listeria?
Listeria is a type of bacteria that can contaminate many foods.

People infected with listeriosis often will not get symptoms at all or just mild symptoms such as high temperature, pain and pain, chills, nausea and diarrhea.
