Law, 42, was arrested and released on bail last night.

Witnesses claim Scott Law confronted Keane after Sunday’s Premier League game before headbutting him in the shoulder.

The blow apparently broke Law’s nose and hardman Keane was uninjured but “a bit shaken up”.

Witnesses claimed blood was left spattered on the ground of the west stand of the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium.

Married father-of-two Law was reportedly furious after Red Devils legend Keane cheered on from the training ground when his former side appeared to have scored an 88th-minute goal from Alejandro Garnach — although it was quickly ruled out for offside.

Friends of the law, a £2,500 hospitality season ticket holder, say Keane was insulting fans below.

It is claimed Keane was then attacked as he made his way up the pitch to analyze Arsenal’s 3-1 win.

A video shared on social media yesterday showed Sky colleague Micah Richards separating Law from Keane.

Keane was heard asking the stewards to call the police before Law left the scene.

Arsenal officials are understood to have discovered his identity from electronic ticket purchases and provided officers with his name and address.

Law, of Waltham Abbey, Essex, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of ABH.

He is believed to have been released on bail after spending several hours in custody.

A source told The Sun: “Keane was giving it to Arsenal fans when United scored and he hurt some. He seemed to be provoking them.

“Scott went into the hall, saw him and headbutted him, but he just hit him in the shoulder and further damaged himself.

“He broke his nose and Keane didn’t seem hurt at all, just a bit shaken up.”

Another fan who witnessed the incident said: “It looks like the fan tried to headbutt Roy Keane.

“Micah Richards came in and pushed the fan back on the door. I heard the argument and was shocked to see the people involved.”

Sources said former Republic of Ireland midfielder Keane and ex-Man City defender Richards, 35, were left “shaken” by the incident but continued with their matchday duties.

The pair have formed a strong friendship off the pitch since meeting through pundits and have appeared together in several spin-off shows.

Sky Sports will review security for its pundits and presenters until the end of the season.

Keane, who clashed with former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira in the tunnel at Arsenal’s old Highbury stadium in 2005, returned home to his family in Hale, Cheshire, yesterday.

He was photographed taking his two dogs for a walk, but he refused to comment, covering his face from the cameras with a sweater.

Richards briefly touched on the incident yesterday while recording The Rest is Football podcast with Match of the Day’s Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.

Lineker asked: “One of us had an interesting weekend Micah, have you been on the news?”

Richards replied: “Oh my god. Gary, I’m not allowed to talk about it.”

Lineker then clarified: “Because he’s under police investigation?”

Richards confirmed this, saying: “Exactly, but when I’m allowed to talk about it, The Rest Is Football will be the first to get it.”

Shearer said: “I think the conventional wisdom is don’t mess with Big Meeks (Richards)!”

Invoking the US right to remain silent, Richards replied: “No comment. I stand for the fifth (amendment)!”

Lineker closed the discussion by clarifying: “It is not something we should trivialize as it is a serious matter and we will wait until the police investigation is completed before we discuss the matter further.”

Arsenal said yesterday: “We are aware of the incident that occurred during our game against Manchester United on Sunday.

“The Metropolitan Police are investigating this matter and we are fully cooperating with their inquiries.”

Manchester United did not want to comment. Sky Sports confirmed: “Micah Richards acted to defuse the situation.”

The Met said: “Police are investigating an incident at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday September 3, during which a man was assaulted.

“On Monday, September 4, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault (ABH).

“The man has been detained. Inquiries are ongoing.”

No one answered at Law’s house in Essex last night.
