Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on charges of corporal injury to a spouse in Napa, California.
The Dancing with the stars pro, 42, was arrested shortly before 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 29. He was then booked into the Napa County Jail less than an hour later and released later that day.
The booking code shows that Chigvintsev is charged with corporal injury to a spouse and has bail set at $25,000, according to booking records obtained by PEOPLE. It has not yet been confirmed, but given the accusation, Chigvinstev’s wife Nikki Garcia (formerly Nikki Bella) is likely the spouse in question. PEOPLE has reached out to representatives for Chigvintsev and Garcia for comment.

Just a day before her arrest, Garcia posted an Instagram Stories post about a facial she did in Napa. She also posted a video clip from her relationship with Chigvintseva for their anniversary on August 27, with lyrics from Elvis Presley’s hit “Can’t Help Falling in Love” in the title.
“This song is our love story. I will never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. A conversation with him and God”, she also wrote. βHow premature my feelings were. Everything seemed too fast. And then this song was created. And then I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was meant to be. ππΌβ¨.β

Chigvintsev also posted, writing: βHappy anniversary my love, I can’t see my life without you. You are my everything β€οΈ”

The Total Bellas alum and Chigvintsev first met in 2017 when they were linked to DWTS. At the time, Garcia was still in a relationship with longtime boyfriend (and then-fiancΓ©) John Cena, but the couple broke up a year later.
The retired WWE wrestler reconnected with Chigvintseva later that year before the two confirmed their romance in March 2019. Eight months later, they got engaged and welcomed their first child together in July 2020.
“7/31/2020 π Our boy has arrived and we couldn’t be HAPPIER and in love! Everyone is safe and sound,” she said in a post on Instagram.
Chigvintsev also posted at the time, writing: “7/31/2020 please welcome our dear boy Chigvintsev πΆ proud of his love @thenikkibella.”

In November 2020, Garcia revealed that he began couples counseling with Chigvintseva after the birth of their son.
“We hear a lot of stories about where there are sacrifices in your own relationship because it’s about children,” she said Show in the Tamron Hall. “Artem and I, from the very beginning, want to know: How are we going to balance this for Matteo and our relationship?”

Exactly one year later, Garcia shared an update on their relationship, saying they had overcome a difficult situation. She explained further Podcast Bellas that it was difficult when both she and her son were separated from Chigvintsev for a long time while she was a judge at AGT: Extreme.
“Teo goes everywhere with mom,” she said. “He’s comfortable there, he’s the best there. And, you know, it was difficult [Artem]It was also hard for me that my man was not in bed for more than six, seven weeks.”

“It was really hard for us,” she admitted, adding that things were “a little shaky” but the two had “sexy FaceTimes” and were “stronger than ever.”
In August 2022, the couple finally got married in Paris, where they got engaged years before. “We said YES”, they wrote in a joint post on Instagram.
Garcia also shared another photo on her Instagram Stories, writing, “We both can’t stop laughing. I want this feeling to never end. I will love you forever Mr. Chigvintsev.”
