As Kody Brown Accused 2 of His Sister Wives of ‘Colluding,’ a Surprise ‘Devil’s Advocate’ Came to Their Defense

Kody Brown thinks some of the sorority women are conspiring against him.

The Brown family patriarch met with then-remaining wives Meri Brown and Robyn Brown on Sunday Sister wives episode to discuss this year’s Christmas plan. At a get-together held at Mera’s home, Kody revealed that Janelle Brown will not be spending the holiday with them since she rented an apartment for a short time with his ex-wife Christine Brown.

“I think they’re trying to shut me out because they’re mad at me,” Kody, 54, said.

Kody then opened up to Meri, 52, and Robyn, 44, about his recent fight with Janelle, 54, over who was to blame for the demise of their polygamous family.

He claimed to have “reached out to almost everyone,” including his estranged sons with Janelle. But he believes his grown sons with Janelle are “making up stories in their heads because they don’t talk to me.”

“Everyone has some story about how dad is a bad guy, but we just have two groups for Christmas,” he said. “Look, I threatened to do that last Christmas.”

“What I took from the things that Janelle was throwing at me is that everyone is making up a story about me and talking to each other but not talking to me about it,” he continued. “And now everyone is mad at me.”

Meri then noted that Janelle originally “wasn’t going to be an in-between” for Christine, 51, and Kody. And while Kody wished Janelle wouldn’t do it, he said of his second wife, “She’s in cahoots with them.”

While Meri questioned whether Kody really believed Janelle and Christine were “conspiring” against him, the head of the family said he “absolutely” felt that was the case. But Meri, despite calling Janelle and Christine’s recent behavior “weird,” didn’t quite agree with Kody’s opinion.

“Kody’s feeling pretty angry and whenever you’re angry, you’re not going to see any other perspective. You have blinders on your head,” she told the cameras. “But playing Devil’s Advocate, maybe Janelle doesn’t collude. I mean, when you use the word collude and Kody uses it, like, it means everybody’s fighting him. And maybe she doesn’t.”

From Kody’s perspective, “Christine and Janelle are doing everything they can to keep me from being the head of the family, which is fine.”

Christine, on the other hand, told the cameras that she became the head of her household “out of necessity”.

“I was the one my kids listened to and I was the one my kids talked to,” she continued. “And if they needed to feel love or security, acceptance, they got that from me.”

Kody, Meri and Robyn decided to spend Christmas Eve at Meri’s house and Christmas at Robyn’s. Due to the tense situation in the family, the trio agreed that it would be best not to invite Janelle and her children who were nearby.

This prompted Kody to state that he’d “rather just be around people who really want to be around me,” saying he’s “not interested” in contacting Janelle, especially now, after their big fight.

The decision to leave family members out of this year’s Christmas celebration was difficult for Mera, who felt like everyone was putting her in the “middle”.

“I feel like I’m completely stuck in the middle, let’s be real,” she explained to Kody and Robyn. “I’m in this place where, I’m not saying this to be a jerk, I’m not saying anything. I’m just saying it just is what it is. You’ve got Christine who’s gone, you’ve got Janelle who’s at odds with you. I’m, like, the third whale because I’m right here. I don’t know what to do.”

Further acknowledging her “awkward position,” Meri told the cameras, “I’m not in the Kody and Robyn marriage club. I’m not in the Janelle and Christina friend club. If it were up to me, the whole family would get together and be together.”

Following Kody’s split from Christina in November 2021, Janelle and Meri also ended their marriages with him. Robyn is now the only woman left.

The breakup between families was a focal point Sister wives‘ 18th season.
