Asari Dokubo News

Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant, was caught on camera pointing an AK-47 weapon and threatening to murder every Igbo, an ethnic group that predominates in the southeast of Nigeria.

Mr. Dokubo was heard calling the Igbos “slaves” in a video tape that has since gone viral on social media platforms, and he claimed that if the British government hadn’t intervened, he would have continued to “sell” the Igbos.

The video was published by Mr. Dokubo in late September 2022, but it only became widely known a few days later, in October, or around eight months ago, according to an independent research by PREMIUM TIMES.

In the video, the former militant appears to be condemning Peter Obi’s Labour Party (LP) supporters for lying about holding a two million-person match for the LP candidate in Jos, Plateau State in a stadium with a seating capacity of 15,000 people.

The two million-person match for Mr. Obi at the stadium took place on September 17, 2022, just before the presidential election on February 25, 2022.

In the video, Mr. Dokubo appeared to be replying to an article written against him by some Obidients, a nickname for Mr. Obi’s followers who are Igbo speakers from Anambra State.

You write with your leprous hand (against me). You don’t appreciate the folks who purchased your father, do you? Is it true that all Kalabari men are Kalabari men? Do you understand who you are that you would talk to me? You’re unaware that somebody owns this Kalabari, he added in the video.

Mr. Dokubo is a Kalabari, a member of the Ijaw ethnic group from Rivers State in southern Nigeria. He had frequently shown his support for Bola Tinubu, the current president of Nigeria and the APC’s former presidential contender.

“I don’t know any Igbos. I’m not sure how they got there. I know I would still be selling them the way my father sold them if it weren’t for British intervention,” he claimed.
