The High school music alum36, gave archdigest.com a peek inside the modern estate she shares with husband Christopher French and their daughter Jupiter, 1.
But while the space now looks perfect and polished, a few days before the photos were taken, he admits, at least one area wasn’t quite ready for the camera.
“These bookshelves, I have to be honest, didn’t really have books on them a few days ago,” she says in a video tour of the main living space and its now fully stocked built-ins. “I made my husband go to the bookstore and I said, ‘You have to get 400 books.'”
“Apparently my husband said, ‘We should collect books over time and put them on the shelves.’ And I said: ‘No, no, no, no,'” she recalls with a laugh.
The rest of the space, which the couple moved into when Ashley was seven months pregnant, was decorated with much more careful planning — and a little inspiration from baby Jupiter.
“I’ve never loved color that much. I’ve always loved neutrals. And there’s something about being pregnant and seeing little dots that I could add color to that made me feel like, ‘Oh, this is going to be a fun home,'” she explains in the video tour .
“I wanted to do neutral chic, but also quirky and fun,” she adds

The process was not without challenges due to the COVID pandemic, which made her look only to the internet for inspiration.
“I basically designed this whole house through Instagram,” she says. “We didn’t really go to the shops and stuff and we didn’t go out. I was pregnant, so I was super safe.”

Tisdale said becoming a parent made her reconsider buying her extraordinary angular stone coffee table from Apparatus.
