Ashoke started his career as a director. He has directed many Hindi documentaries such as Kashmiri Pandit Refugees, Sharnarthi Apne Desh Mein, The World Remains Silent and Widows Village. His documentary The World Remains Silent was screened at the Goa International Film Festival, Pune International Film Festival and the Institute of Moving Image (MAMI), Mumbai, and received a standing ovation at the House of Commons in London.
