Atul and his brother Ajay moved to Mumbai from their hometown Pune to pursue a career in music. Soon they received offers to compose music for an international non-film music album, ‘Vishwavinayaka’. Initially, they composed music for various commercial jingles and advertisements. Atul and Ajay composed music for films in various languages including Hindi, Marathi, Kannada and Telugu. The brothers shot to fame as music composers with the Hindi film Gayab (2004). Later, they composed music for films like Viruddh… Family Comes First (2005), Ek Daav Dhobi Pachhad (2009), Singham (2011), Agneepath (2012), Bol Bachchan (2012), Lai Bhaari (2014), PK (2014), Sairat (2) and many more. 016), “Dhadak” (2018), “Tanhaji” (2020) and “Chatrapati Shivaji” (2021).

In 2016, Atul and Ajay made their debut as producers with the Marathi film Jaundya Na Balasaheb.

Facts/Trivia
- Atul and Ajay developed an interest in performing while in school. When Atul was in fourth grade and Ajay was in second grade, both brothers composed music for the school poem. After that, they started participating in various extracurricular activities.
- Ajay and Atul’s families were not financially well-off, so they could not afford expensive musical instruments to practice. In an interview, they shared that during their childhood, they used to make friends with boys who had musical instruments; so that they could learn from them how to play different instruments.
- Ajay and Atul do not have any professional musical training. They performed in local bands and at various local events during their school and college years.
- Atul shared in an interview that once his father gifted him and his brother Ajay a musical keyboard. He shared at the time that his father said,
You didn’t get any toys as a kid, and now this is your toy.”
- In 2015, Ajay and Atul were included in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list, ranking 82nd.
