The suspects include Baba Siddique and 157 others, including some Congress leaders. In 2014, after an FIR was lodged against Siddique and other suspects for money laundering amounting to around Rs 1,000 crore, the ED raided various locations. SRA scam caused Rs 400 crore. However, the ED found nothing and Siddiq was cleared. After the case, Congress leader Sachin Sawant expressed his views on Twitter and wrote:
This is a pattern. The Education Ministry and the Central Bureau of Investigation harass the opposition. The government seeks to tarnish our image and silence our voices. This is a tactic to divert attention from the government’s failures and scare the opposition. We will not be intimidated and will continue to make our voices heard.
