Babu Anthony is an Indian-American actor and martial artist who works primarily in the Malayalam film industry. He is best known for starring in the Malayalam films Vaishali (1989), Aparahnam (1991) and Uppukandam Brothers (1993). A fifth-degree black belt in martial arts, he is the only martial arts expert actor in the Malayalam film industry who achieved stardom through his brilliantly intense fight scenes.

He attended Sacred Heart High School, Government Boys’ High School and St. Dominic’s High School, Kanjirapalli.
Babu holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a master’s degree in human resource management from Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Pune. He was good at sports since he was a child and started practicing martial arts at the age of six. Initially, he began practicing kalarippayattu, an Indian martial art and fighting style that originated in the southern state of Kerala. Moving to Pune after graduation, Anthony continued to hone his skills. He received mixed martial arts training from some of the best masters in the city. While in Pune, he learned karate and other martial arts forms. Later, he received training in various forms of martial arts including Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Taekwondo and Western Boxing under various renowned Indian and international coaches.
Babu also captained the volleyball and sports teams of Pune University during his graduation. He later moved to the United States and settled with his family in Houston, Texas. He learned martial arts from Master Sebastian.

Babu Antony started his career as a cinematographer at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. For a few years, he even taught karate to missionaries in Pune. While in FTII, Malayalam film director Bharathan discovered him and offered him a role in a Malayalam film.

Babu Antony made his debut in the 1985 Malayalam film Shathru in which he played a small role. He next appeared in the films Poovinu Puthiya Poonthennal (1986), Chilambu (1987), Vrutham (1987) and Veendum Lisa (1987). He came to limelight for his role as Lomapadhan in the film Vaisali (1988). Directed and edited by Bharathan, the film is a period drama that tells the story of a Devadasi girl named Vaisali who goes on a mission to seduce Maharshi Vibhandakan’s son Rishyashrungan and drive him to Chambapuri performs mahayagam to bring rainfall.
He also proved his acting mettle by playing the role of an ex-terrorist in “Aparahnam” and a down-and-out character in “Sayaahnam”.
