Badri Seshadri is an Indian author, software entrepreneur and political analyst. He is one of the co-founders of the famous sports website “ESPN Cricinfo”. In 1994, he founded an online bookstore called Kizhakku Pathippagam (Oriental Publishing House). In addition, he is also good at archaeology. He serves on the advisory board of the Tamil Internet Education Association until October 2022. On July 29, 2023, he was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police for making “provocative” comments on the violence in Manipur and Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud during a YouTube interview.

Badri Seshadri was born in 1965 in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu (56 years old; as of 2023). From 1987 to 1991, he studied at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He subsequently pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, from 1991 to 1996.

Badri Seshadri co-founded the Cricinfo website in June 1996 and served as its director until April 2005. While at Cricinfo, he was involved in operational, strategic and commercial aspects. On February 18, 2004, Badri Seshadri founded an organization called “New Horizon Media private Limited”. Through this company he produced and distributed free software such as NHM Writer and Font Converter. He is a member of Publishers Association Babasi and actively participates in technology forum called ‘Uttamam’. He is also committed to making people aware of archeology through the Tamil Heritage Foundation, where he serves as Assistant Treasurer. Additionally, he runs an online magazine called East Today.
In August 2012, he started working as a Director at Aargee Staffing Services Private Limited in Chennai, India, responsible for the IT Human Resources department. SynProSoft was founded in 2014 by Badri Seshadri (Badri) and K Satyanarayan (Satya). Through Synprosoft, he helps provide quality IT solutions to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on the Zoho platform.
After the DMK government came to power, it appointed Badri Seshadri as a member of the advisory board of the Tamil Internet Education Board. However, his tenure in this post ended in October 2022 when he was removed from the post over his comments criticizing DMK founder CN Annadurai on social media. Badri Seshadri used to participate in a weekly discussion program called “Nanenda” on New Generation TV. In this program, he talks about various topics related to politics, society and economics. He also appears regularly as a political commentator on various television channels.

Comments on the First Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu
In October 2022, Badri Seshadri caused controversy by making certain comments on social media about Anna, the first chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Due to these remarks, the DMK removed him from the advisory board of the Tamil Internet Education Board.
Criticizes Chief Justice of India (CJI) over Manipur violence
In July 2023, Perambalur district police arrested Badri Seshadri at his home in Chennai. The arrest came after he made comments in a YouTube video criticizing the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and the Supreme Court’s handling of cases related to the violence in Manipur. Badri Seshadri was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Police under Sections 153, 153A and 505(1)(B) of the IPC. Badri commented in an interview with YouTube,
The Supreme Court has said that if you (the government) can’t do anything, we (the courts) will. We gave Chandrachud a gun and sent him there. Let’s see if he can restore peace. This is a hilly and complex area where murders occur. We cannot prevent violence from happening. “

- Once, during a media talk, Badri Seshadri shared a story from his past, when an old student visited Badri’s father and he suggested that Badri should go to an IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) after graduating from high school. . However, his father could not afford expensive preparatory courses. So his father sent a postcard to IIT Madras asking about their admissions process. A few days later, he received a reply, along with previous years’ test papers. Badri prepared hard for the exams and eventually succeeded, getting into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
