Balkar Singh Sidhu is an Indian politician and Punjabi singer. In 2022, he became a member of the Legislative Assembly from Rampura Phul constituency in Punjab on the Aam Aadmi Party ticket. He is popular for the Punjabi song “Majhe Diye Mombatiye” (2000).

Balkar Sidhu made his debut while in college, during which he released 5 songs and an album, Karna Chhad De Pyar (1991). Later, he released several albums including the Punjabi song “Din Pepran De”. Sidhu has released a total of 19 albums. He gained fame and recognition for the songs “Maje Diye Mombatiye” and “Vyah” from the album “Laung Taviteriaan” (2003).

Balkar Sidhu started his political career in May 2014 by joining the Aam Aadmi Party. In the same year, he was announced as the AAP candidate from Talwandi Sabo constituency. However, he was replaced by Baljinder Kaur amid persistent speculation about his alleged involvement in anti-party activities. Sidhu was kicked out of the Aam Aadmi Party and decided to contest the elections as an independent candidate. In 2021, Balkar Sidhu rejoined the Aam Aadmi Party. In 2022, he contested the Punjab Assembly elections from Rampura Phul constituency and won, defeating his closest rivals Sikandar Singh Maluka of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Gurpreet Singh Kangar of the Congress Party.

Balkar Sidhu was expelled from the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014 for alleged anti-party activities and joined the Indian National Congress in 2016. Later, he became a member of the Punjab Congress Committee in the presence of Captain Amarinder Singh. In an interview, Sidhu said about joining the Congress party:
I join the Congress Party unconditionally. I am confident that under the leadership of the party’s national president Sonia Gandhi, Vice President Rahul Gandhi and state president Amarinder Singh, we will form the next government in Punjab. I will use my singing talent and write songs to convey the anger of all sections of society against the Akalis for pushing the country backwards. “
Talking about the allegations leveled against him by the AAP party, he said:
While the polls were being conducted, various false accusations were made against me, but AAP later failed to prove any of them. I will now file a defamation suit in court to seek their response. Punjab comedian-turned-politician Bhagwant Mann joined AAP and later became Sangrur MP, several actors in the state are associated with the party and feel sincere and committed to cleanliness system. However, as time passed, people realized that AAP was no longer what it used to be. They just made big promises to win votes. They have no policies, agendas and plans to serve the people. “
