Rema lost her father Bappi Lahiri on February 15, 2022. He suffered from obstructive sleep apnea and recurring chest infections, and his health was deteriorating rapidly. The doctor who examined the singer at Juhu Criticare Hospital in Mumbai said:
As a result, he was hospitalized at Juhu Criticare Hospital for 29 days. He recovered well and was discharged home on February 15. However, after a day at home, his health deteriorated again and he was returned to Juhu Criticalare Hospital in critical condition, where he died at around 11:45 p.m. He has had OSA for the past year. He was taken to Criticala Hospital several times for treatment by Dr. Deepak Namjoshi and recovered every time. “
