Profession

After completing his formal education, Basavaraj Bommai started working as a mechanical engineer at the production plant of Tata Motors, Pune division. He worked there for three years before deciding to go independent and start his own business. In 1998, Basavaraj decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and began his political journey. However, the party began to disintegrate in 1999, and in 2003 Sharad Yadav of the Janata Dal decided to align their party with the Lok Shakti Party and the Samtha Party Samta Party) merged to form the People’s People’s Party (United Party). He was subsequently elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council from Dharwad constituency.
