Baskin-Robbins Has Free Ice Cream on Wednesday to Help Beat the End-of-Summer Heat

Baskin-Robbins is working overtime to keep customers cool during the dog days of summer.

The ice cream chain has introduced a cheeky new deal called Melt Insurance to cover spikes in temperatures that could result in melted ice cream. On August 14, shoppers can get one free scoop of ice cream by using promo code MELT on the Baskin-Robbins app.

A melt insurance coupon is supposed to replace any scoops that melt prematurely — but in the spirit of fun, according to the press release, proof of melt is not required.

Cones, toppings and ice cream cakes are excluded from the discount, and the offer is limited to one per customer. Also does not apply to delivery or in-store orders.

Carvel also has a summer contract. To celebrate its 90th birthday on August 19 (and National Soft Serve Day), the chain is selling soft serve ice cream for 90 cents. Customers can take a small cup or cone of any soft flavor.

While Baskin-Robbins and Carvel are still celebrating summer, another ice cream chain is already looking to the fall months.
