Bavanaka Sandeep was born on 25 April 1992 (28 years old in 2020) in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. His full name is Bavanaka Parameshwar Sandeep. In 2007, he graduated from St. Andrews High School, one of the best schools for cricket training in Hyderabad. After graduation, he enrolled in TKR College of Engineering and Technology under the sports quota. He even captained his school and college cricket teams for several years.

Sandeep had a prolific career in junior cricket for Hyderabad U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 and stood out with his outstanding performances at an early stage in his career.
On 10 November 2010, at the age of 18, Sandeep played his first first-class match, playing a brilliant innings of 144 against Jharkhand in Ranchi. His hundred in the first match earned him a place in the South Zone Duleep Trophy, and since then, Sandeep has been one of the main batsmen in the Hyderabad batting line-up.
In his first two seasons with the first-class team, he had a batting average of over 55. Sandeep was the top run scorer for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy 2017-18.
Since starting to play professional cricket, Sandeep has been primarily a red-ball cricketer; however, with the growing popularity of T20 cricket, his white-ball game has also improved. In the 2019/20 Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 season, he was the highest run-scorer for Hyderabad.
In November 2018, Sandeep achieved the milestone of 3000 runs in his first-class cricket career. Sandeep had dreamed of being a part of the IPL ever since its inception in 2008. Finally, his dream came true in December 2019 when Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for a base price of INR 20 lakhs. After representing Hyderabad in domestic events for nearly a decade, Sandeep has decided to play for Goa as a guest player in the upcoming domestic season. The reason for the switch to Goa was reportedly due to political reasons of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, which was also mentioned by several Hyderabad players including Ambati Rayudu.

- Sandeep was a right-handed batsman when he was young. Later his father changed his batting style and made him a left-handed batsman.
- In order to focus on his son’s cricket career, Sandeep’s father voluntarily retired from his job as a technician; this was eight years before he was due to complete retirement age.
- Throughout his first-class cricket career, Sandeep averaged nearly 45 with the bat and was considered as ‘Mr Reliable’ by his Hyderabad teammates.
- Cricket helped him get a government job as an income tax inspector in the Hyderabad government.
