BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt had a very different job before TV career

Charlie Stayt is a household name across the UK thanks to his impressive radio career.

The journalist regularly wakes the nation with Naga Munchetty on BBC Breakfast, and she joined the show in 2006.

Although Charlie has been on our screens for almost 30 years, did you know that he is a “late starter” to his journalism career and has done very different jobs before that?

Before becoming a regular on breakfast television, Charlie worked as a roofer, maid and bartender. While he eventually switched to and pursued a career in journalism, Charlie said the early days of his career “didn’t completely go away”.

Charlie Stayt’s journalistic career

Charlie (61 years old) began his television career on local radio station in his hometown of Gloucester. After moving to London, he hosted the Capital Radio news program, That’s itand has also reported for LBC and BBC Radio 5 Live.

After switching to TV, Charlie started working for ITV in 1995 before taking a job as a reporter for Five News. During 10 years working at ITN, he anchored himself five newscoverage of 9/11, as well as Millennium celebration.

The famous presenters are clearly enjoying their friendship off-camera as they were caught enjoying drinks together after work at a pub in Manchester.

The couple also have famous fans, with Game house presenter Richard Osman previously tweeted: “Like all great TV couples, I think Charlie and Naga have a special form of telepathy.

“The kind of telepathy where you whisper answers to each other.”

Naga was quick to respond to his theory, tweeting “YES” along with three smiley emojis.

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan also joked about the host’s friendship. “I’d say Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt have a steak,” he told Express.co.uk after the BBC stars appeared on the daytime TV programme. Weakest link.

Who is Charlie Stayt married to?

Charlie Stayt is married to Anne Breckell, who is said to be the manager of a global corporation.

The couple married in 1995 and have two children: Phoebe Senara, born in 1997, and Jake Hamilton, born in 2000.

While BBC Breakfast studio moved to Salford, Manchester, Charlie and his family are said to live in West London.
