Much to the surprise of fans, Carol, 61, revealed the news that she and partner Steve Randall, 48, had tied the knot in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday.

Speaking to Naga Munchetty on BBC Breakfast this morning, Carol shared a host of pictures from the big day in which she was seen wearing a stunning off-the-shoulder white dress with a white bouquet.

Carol said: “It was the most perfect and romantic and intimate wedding.

“We are both so incredibly happy.”

She was absent from the show this morning, and Naga and her co-host Charlie Stayt said she was taking a well-deserved rest.

Carol took to X – formerly Twitter – after announcing she was breaking her silence on the union, where she thanked her fans for their kind words and messages.

She wrote on the platform: “Thank you so much for all your nice messages. We had the most perfect day.

“It was a small wedding, but so romantic and intimate. A day we will never forget.

“We’re bursting with happiness. It wasn’t a ‘secret’ wedding, just a private one.”

BBC Weather also shared some photos from the big day, saying: “Big congratulations to our friend and colleague Carol Kirkwood on her wedding to Steve.

“Best wishes from all of us!”

Carol met Steve, a divorced policeman, when she was in her 50s and revealed they were engaged while reporting from the Chelsea Flower Show last May.

Steve, from Hampshire, split from his ex-wife Nichole, the mother of their teenage son, in 2017.

Her BBC Breakfast co-stars congratulated her, including former co-star Dan Walker who posted a sweet message on his Instagram.

He said: “Congratulations to Carol and Steve.

“Steve is one very lucky gentleman, and Carol is the best of us all.

“She is kind, caring, brilliant at her job and a wonderful person to be with.

“I wish them the best of luck in their new life together.”

Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to congratulate the TV favourite.

One person said: “Congratulations to you both!

“Wonderful news.”

Another person said: “Congratulations on your wedding and enjoy your honeymoon.”

And another commented: “Awww, congratulations.

“That dress is sensational, you look fantastic.”

Carol previously revealed they got engaged live on BBC Breakfast.

She said she had no idea this was happening and thought it was a joke.

The Inverness-shire star has remained consistently coy about her new husband and has so far not revealed any details about their marriage plans.

She previously told Prima Magazine that he was “the best thing that ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt.”
