BBC News star QUITS ‘childhood dream’ role after five years in shock move as she issues thank you to fans

A POPULAR BBC News star has sensationally quit her role at the broadcaster after five years.

Emmanuelle Lhoni has confirmed in a lengthy post that she has decided to leave the BBC despite it being “the fulfillment of a childhood dream”.

The 29-year-old became the corporation’s youngest black weather forecaster after joining local program North West Tonight as one of the lead weather forecasters.

The weather forecaster actor has also been increasingly seen delivering news on sister channel BBC World Service, as well as the main BBC Breakfast show.

Snapping her at the BBC’s MediaCityUK studios in Greater Manchester, Emmanuelle delivered a heartfelt message to her supporters as she confirmed her exit.

She said: “After 5 AMAZING years, it’s time to say goodbye to BBC North West tonight.

“It’s an understatement to say that working on this program was a childhood dream come true! (I’m from Greater Manchester so you know we always watched North West Tonight!)

“I still can’t believe that I worked with journalists and presenters that I looked up to and admired and learned from for years.

“Thanks to everyone who helped me get to this point and during these 5 years. And a BIG thank you to our viewers

“I’ve enjoyed covering this region for you and I’m so humbled that you’ve welcomed me into your homes!

“Of course I’ll let you know what’s next soon. For the future.”

The BBC favorite has been inundated with messages from fans and colleagues wishing the star the best of luck in her next adventure, as well as thanking her for her infectious shows.

One person told the star: “All the best in your new chapter lovely. It was a pleasure working with you at the very beginning and seeing you blossom! Wherever you go next, they are lucky to have you!”

A third wrote: “And as a viewer it was great to see you present on BBCNWT. I wish you all the best in whatever you plan in the future.”

Emmanuelle remained tight-lipped about what’s next for her, but promised to keep her followers updated.

She is the latest star to leave the BBC after a number of other presenters also decided to leave for good over the past few months.

Tulip Mazumdar, the BBC’s global health correspondent, quit her job at the beginning of the summer to spend more time with her children.

Sean Rafferty, 76, also left his long-running BBC Radio 3 program In Tune back in June.

On the other hand, BBC news anchor Aaron Heslehurst has left the channel after more than 22 years.
