Murphy’s first film role, a one-off cameo in The Graduate, came as a result of a residency at the Pasadena Playhouse (1967). In 1967, he signed a contract with Universal and began appearing in several studio series. Murthy appeared as a supporting character in The Name of the Game, a series with a rotating cast that included Tony Franciosa, Gene Barry and Robert Stack. He is best known for his role as Kid Curry on the ABC sitcom Alias Smith and Jones.
