Beth Mooney is an Australian cricketer who plays for the national cricket team. She plays domestically for Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. At the end of the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, she became the world’s number one batsman in WT20I cricket.

Bethany Louise Mooney was born on Friday, January 14, 1994, in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia (29 years old; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Capricorn. She has been active in sports since she was a child, playing a variety of sports from football to tennis and Australian rules football. Shortly before her eighth birthday, she began her cricketing journey when she was invited to join the Lake Chiara Cricket Club team in place of her brother. In an interview, while recalling the same incident, she said,
I was always playing cricket in the backyard with my family and one day my brother’s (Tom’s) team was missing a player and Dad said, ‘Why don’t you give Beth a chance?’ I didn’t hesitate. I like to be outside. None of the boys complained, even though I had a good run and that’s where you put your worst players. I started playing cricket from then on. That’s how it all started. “
Following an invitation, she regularly played at Lake Chiara Cricket Club. When she was 10, Mooney and her family moved from Shepparton, Victoria, to Hervey Bay, Queensland. There she attended Starfish Catholic Elementary School and Xavier Catholic Academy. She spent her childhood in Hervey Bay, cycling along the Esplanade with her father every morning before school and sea kayaking with their dog Jasper. In Queensland, she was identified as the best catcher in the team at the Hervey Bay trials. So her coach, Richard Dugdale, suggested she try goalkeeping. She has since continued to compete in the state championships. She was then selected as the goalkeeper for the Queensland Primary Girls team. After her parents moved to the coastal town of New South Wales, she played for the Hervey Bay Boys Knights from the age of 11 to 18. After turning 18, she played for the Queensland Fire Service while studying for a teaching degree, but dropped out in 2014. In 2020, she bought a house in a northern suburb of Brisbane, Virginia.

In 2010, at the age of 16, she made her debut in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) for the Queensland Flames. She played for Queensland from the 2009/10 season to the 2021/2022 season.

At the age of 21, Beth signed to play women’s cricket for Queensland and Australia. In 2015, Mooney was named in the Brisbane Heat squad for the inaugural Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL|01). She has since represented Heat in WBBL|02, WBBL|03, WBBL|04 and WBBL|05. She was named the best player of the WBBL|02 series. She led the Brisbane Heat to win their first WBBL title in the 2018-19 season (WBBL|04) with a three-wicket victory over the Sydney Sixers.

The following season, her efforts helped Brisbane Heat win their second championship, beating Adelaide Strikers by 6 wickets in the final; she was named Player of the Match. This season, she became the first player in the WBBL to score 400 points in five consecutive seasons against the Melbourne Stars. On November 21, 2020, during WBBL|05, Mooney became the first player to cross 3000 points in the WBBL. She was named a member of the Perth Scorchers team in WBBL|06. She served as acting captain for two games, replacing Sophie Devine who was out with a back injury. Mooney led Perth Skochers to victory in the WBBL|07 title, becoming the top run-scorer with 547 runs.
