Bhaskar Rao is an Indian politician and former Karnataka 1990 cadre police officer. In 2019, he started serving as the Chief of Police of Bengaluru City Police. He served as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Karnataka Reserve Police Station and Internal Security Department. In 2021, he was appointed ADGP of Railways. In 2022, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP); however, in 2023, he left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

- Bhaskar Rao is a fitness enthusiast. He is a long-distance runner and avid cyclist. He has participated in many marathon events such as Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, Pondicherry Marathon, Bangalore Half Marathon, Kaveri Trail Half Marathon, etc.
- In 2008, while serving as Bengaluru’s Traffic and Road Safety Commissioner, he participated in the eight-day 900-km cycle race ‘Journey to the Nilgiris’ to promote the use of bicycles as a means of transportation.
