After “What was I made for?” singer Billie Eilish sang the lyrics to “I don’t know how to feel” on stage at the 2024 Academy Awards on Sunday, the audience certainly knew how to feel after the moving performance.
The crowd immediately gave the 22-year-old singer, her brother Finneas and the live orchestra a standing ovation after they performed the popular Barbie song, which won Best Original Song later in the ceremony.
The play made people cry, including Barbie actors America Ferrera and Kate McKinnon, Barbie director Greta Gerwig, as well as Wicked star Ariana Grande and other celebrities in the audience.

Ahead of the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday, Eilish won multiple awards at the Grammys in February — song of the year and best song written for visual media, both for Barbie a song.
Eilish and Finneas, 26, previously won best original song at the 2022 Oscars for “No Time to Die” from the James Bond film, No time to die.
This year, the sibling duo went up against their peers Barbie soundtrack song, “I’m Just Ken,” performed by Ken actor Ryan Gosling and produced/written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt.
The pair ended up beating out the other Best Original Song nominees on Sunday.
“We are incredibly honored to receive a nomination for ‘What Was I Made For?’ “, the siblings said in a joint statement after receiving the nomination in January. “As lifelong fans of the film, the music in the film and the Academy Awards, this means everything to us. We are extremely grateful to the Academy, its members and to be recognized alongside so many songwriters whom we respect and admire.”
