Billy Joel ‘Got Very Cool Dad Points’ for Taking Daughters to See — and Meet — Taylor Swift (Exclusive)

Billy Joel and his girls are Swifties!

Earlier this year, the musician, 74, and his wife, Alexis Roderick, took their two daughters, Della Rose, 8, and Remy Anne, 6, to see — and meet — Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour in Tampa, Florida.

Now, in an exclusive chat with PEOPLE at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF), where an exhibit in his honor opened Friday, Joel explains how he “got some really cool dad points” for helping his two youngest children watch and spend time with Midnight artist. As for what she thinks of Swift herself, the “Uptown Girl” singer says, “Oh, she’s great. She’s really, really good. We’ll probably go see her again.”

All celebrities who have been on the Taylor Swift Eras Tour so far

Back in April, when Joel and Roderick took their girls to see Swift, the proud dad shared a carousel of photos and videos on his Instagram page of the fun family outing.

“Rockin’ into our new ‘era’ thanks @Taylorswift we loved the show!” Joel — who is also father to daughter Alexa Ray Joel with ex-wife Christie Brinkley — captioned his post, adding three hashtags: “#Swifties,” “#TaylorSwift” and “#TheErasTour.” In one image shared, Roderick can be seen posing with her little ones as they both smile widely, while in another snap, Joel was seen walking and holding hands with Della and Remy.

The last clip showed Joel and Roderick’s kids jumping and dancing at Swift’s concert Reputation the song “… Ready for It?”

After seeing Swift’s Eras Tour in person, Joel raved about the singer and, while talking to The New York Timeshe compared her to the Beatles. “The only thing I can compare it to is the Beatlemania phenomenon,” he told the publication.

Previously, in 2021, Joel shared similar sentiments when he described Swift as the Beatles of his generation USA Today“Taylor is also a very talented girl, she’s productive and she’s always coming up with great concepts and songs, and she’s huge,” he said. “You have to give her high marks. She knows music and she can write. She’s like the Beatles of that generation.”
