Hoda Kotb Details How Taylor Swift’s ‘Enchanted’ Reminded Her of Holding Daughter Hope for the First Time

Hoda Kotb shares a touching mom moment.

During Wednesday’s episode of her new podcast, Creating space with Hod Kotbathe Today co-host, 59, chatted with Erin Andrews and recounted a sweet conversation she recently had with her 4-year-old daughter, Hope.

“I was with Hope yesterday and you know that song ‘Enchanted’ by Taylor Swift? I’m so enchanted to meet you?” she asked Andrews, 45, quoting lyrics from the pop star’s 2010 hit. “I’m looking at Hope, and she’s looking at me, and there’s a song. And suddenly I get it [choked up].”

Kotb said to her daughter, “Hope, you know what this reminds me of?” causing the little girl to remark, “Your eyes are wet!”

“I say, ‘I hope, the first time you were put in my arms I realized that was a word,'” the TV host continued, referring to the adoption of her daughter in 2019.

Hope then wanted her mom to explain a new word from the dictionary. “She asked, ‘What does bewitched mean?’ I said, ‘Charmed means he’s more than thrilled — that’s the most important word,'” recalled Kotb, who is also mom to 6-year-old daughter Haley.

Not only did the sweet mother-daughter interaction bring back emotional memories of Hope’s arrival in her family, but it made Kotb realize the importance of “making room” for small moments of connection in the midst of her busy day.

“I thought to myself, ‘Oh my God. We made a memory in two minutes,'” Andrews said. “I’m just, like, trying to slow the world down.”

Hoda Kotb celebrates Thanksgiving with her daughters Hope and Haley

Kotb recently shared another touching memory from Hope’s adoption during the October episode Today with Hoda and Jenna.

She then explained that she had just attended her high school’s 60th anniversary celebration, where she had been invited to be the keynote speaker, with Hope by her side.

She told the audience it was “one of the best calls I’ve ever received” when she found out she was going to adopt Hope. “The woman on the other end at the adoption agency said, ‘She’s here.’ And I thought, ‘She’s here,'” Kotb said.

Just at that moment, Hope ran to the stage and hugged her mom. “So when I was at my reunion, I said, ‘She’s here, too.’ Little Hope came buzzing on stage, fearless, in my old high school cheerleading uniform,” she continued. “It was one of those amazing ‘pinch me’ moments.”

“Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours ❤️❤️,” she wrote alongside a snap of the group posing on the couch. Her daughters smiled for the camera as they cuddled with their grandmother Sameha.
