Bleachers Share Cinematic 'Alma Mater' Music Video Starring Lana Del Rey, Margaret Qualley and Clairo

Jack Antonoff’s band released a dreamy music video for their latest single on Thursday

Several of Jack Antonoff’s frequent collaborators — and his wife Margaret Qualley — have appeared in his latest music video.

Singer/producer band Bleachers dropped the music video for their latest single “Alma Mater” on Thursday. The Alex Lockett-directed cinematic visual stars the frontman, 39, and features cameos from guest singers and frequent collaborators Lana Del Rey and Clair, as well as his actress wife, 29.

Exuding a touch of surrealism, it is a dreamy accompaniment to the song, in which the frontman compares a former lover whose memories he returns to as his “alma mater”. During the clip, the Grammy winner takes an introspective midnight drive through the suburbs of his native New Jersey.

A timeline of Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff’s relationship

Observing a series of scenes, it is as if he is looking for his past at the turnpike and wonders if each green light is a step closer to knowing what kind of future awaits him. After fantasizing about a former romantic partner, played by the Emmy-nominated star, running into her on the side of the road proves that his past is very much connected to his present.

“She’s my alma mater / Chasin’ lines all night / Smokin’ me outta sight / Well, summer’s gettin’ hotter / Throwed her T-shirt down pike,” Antonoff sings on the indie pop slow jam.

Romantic profile photos of the “A&W” singer, 38, are interspersed throughout — as if her singing is a voice in Antonoff’s head — and the indie-pop star, 25, was seen mysteriously waiting at a bus stop with a giant houseplant in hand.

The band’s upcoming album “Rollercoaster” is a self-titled album and is due out on March 8th (via Dirty Hit). It will follow in 2021 Take the sadness out of your Saturday night and features the previously released “Modern Girl”.

The lead single was released in September before the six-piece band officially announced their latest full-length album. Like many of their fan-favorite hits, the song is a Bruce Springsteen-esque danceable pop-rock tune.

Next year, the hitmakers will promote their upcoming album on the From the Studio to the Stage tour. The 18-date run takes place throughout May and June and stops in cities like Chicago, Nashville, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia and more before concluding with a special show at Ashbury Park, Stone Pony’s summer stage in New Jersey.
