Blue Bloods’ Donnie Wahlberg Reveals ‘Bucket List’ NKOTB Cameo, Hints at ‘Rumblings’ That Show Could Continue

Donnie Wahlberg isn’t ready to close the door Blue blood more.

In November, CBS announced that the long-running crime drama would end its 14th season as its last, but Wahlberg, 54, doesn’t seem to be on the same page.

When asked by Andy Cohen on SiriusXM Andy Cohen live about the show’s final season, Wahlberg said it was “supposedly” to be the last, as he hinted at possibilities to come for his character.

“Potentially,” he teased if season 14 Blue blood‘ the last one. “There’s a rumble, so we’ll see what happens.”

Wahlberg, who plays Det. Danny Reagan, son of New York Police Commissioner Francis “Frank” Reagan (Tom Selleck), called the show’s 14-year run “absolutely crazy.”

“She’s loved,” he said of the show, before Cohen, 55, asked his New Kids on the Block co-stars – who also appeared on the radio show – for their thoughts.

Jordan Knight joked that there would be a “Donnie spinoff” after that. Blue blood ends, prompting Cohen to question why none of the other NKOTB members made cameo appearances on the show.

“I was trying,” Wahlberg insisted, before saying he was particularly keen to have Joey McIntyre on the show.

“It’s an easy thing for Joey to do and I’m sure he’d be up for it if there was a good part, but it just wasn’t the right thing to do. But our executive producer said, ‘If this is the last year, is there a bucket list item you want?’ I said yes. Put fucking Joey on the show because ten years ago you told me you were going to put him on the show and we’re still waiting, so we’ll see.”

Appearing McIntyre is a bucket list item for Wahlberg, but Waitress alum, 51, didn’t sound too thrilled.

“I do not know. If he has to take my face and put it against the car window or something. You know what I mean? We have to have some soft boundaries around the role.”

Wahlberg then offered up another potential storyline for his bandmate. “The story could be, you come and be my partner’s love interest and I get jealous or whatever.”

So far, getting McIntyre on the show has been like “ships in the night,” he said. “Sometimes you say: ‘There was something. You should have been cast for what just happened.’”

Wahlberg shared one such story: “They kicked out a friend of his like him two months ago. He said, ‘Yeah, I’m friends with Joey.’ I ask myself, ‘Why are you doing this role?’ You should be Joey.’ ”

Wahlberg, who was on Blue blood since its inception in 2010, he recently recalled how he felt when he was cast in the series — and how he felt playing Selleck’s son on screen.

“They hired me on the show i [Tom] he was very excited because he was a fan Family of brothersso he said ‘Oh yeah, this guy’s good,'” Wahlberg said in one episode Brotherly love podcast. “But I walked into the room and he’s about 6’4, I’m about 5’11,” I think.”

“So I walked in and I was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s got so much hair, his eyebrows are so shaggy.’ I didn’t even care about the mustache,” he said. “I thought, ‘How am I this guy’s son?’ I said, ‘They’re going to fire me tomorrow.’ ”

But after that moment of apprehension, Wahlberg met Len Cariou, who plays his grandfather Henry Reagan on the show, and felt much more at ease. “He’s shorter than me, same hair,” he joked. “I said, ‘Okay, I have his genes. I’m good.'”
