C. Elamaran, also known as Ilamaran, was born in 1969 in Pudupettai, Chennai (54 years old; as of 2023). He was expelled from school in eighth grade. In an interview, Malan said about this matter,
I grew up in Pudupettai, Chennai and studied in a school there. But they couldn’t stand my stubbornness and expelled me when I was in eighth grade. “
His father then gave him two options: go to another school or join his uncles who were in the film distribution business in Madurai. Since he has loved movies since he was a child, he chose to join his uncles.

Blue Sattai Maran entered the Tamil film industry at the age of 15, working for his uncle’s film distribution company. Soon, Satay and his three brothers also got into the film distribution business and started their own company. However, they were unable to maintain their position in the market. Malan then tried several ventures, but they all failed. Later, he worked in the production team of several Tamil films including Vel (2007), Seval (2008) and Lingaa (2014). He also joined Ram Babu Productions and worked in their team to produce 23 Kannada films. He also worked briefly as the assistant personal manager of a popular Tamil star. On January 27, 2012, he created a YouTube channel called Tamil Talkies where he uploaded his movie reviews. The channel has 1.63 million subscribers.
In 2021, Brusathai Maran directed and starred in the Tamil political satire film “Anti-Indian”. He plays the painter Basha in the film. Malan also served as the screenwriter of the film. The film’s box office performance was average.

However, Brusathe Malan countered that the film was the world’s first single-shot non-linear film and also gave a critical review of the film. Malan’s remarks did not go down well with the Pattiban fans, who burned the effigies of Bru Sathay Malan to express their dissent.

- Malan earned the nickname “Blue Sathay” because he wore the same shirt every week in front of the cameras. In an interview, Malan revealed the reason for wearing the same shirt in all the videos, saying:
When we decided to do this, I knew I had to do a weekly review. So that means 52 shirts in one year. It was too expensive and not worth the effort to me. So we made it a uniform. Now seven years later, I wear the same Durbin shirt every week. I only have one of them. It was 1500 rupees when I bought it. “
- In 1976, when Malan was just 7 years old, he went out to watch the 1957 film Manaalane Mangaiyin Baakkiyam. He revealed in an interview that he was fascinated by images of snakes and the prospect of “magic” in movie posters. He further said that the film was an emotional roller coaster for him.
