Boria Majumdar was born on Monday, March 8, 1976, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India (age 46; as of 2022). Boria Majumdar completed her schooling from Frank Antony Public School, Kolkata. In 1997, he received his BA in History from Presidency College, University of Calcutta. In 1999, Boria completed his graduate studies in modern history at the same university. In 2000, he won a scholarship through the Rhodes Scholars and was subsequently admitted to St. John’s College, Oxford University. In 2004, he received a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in the social history of Indian cricket.

Boria Majumdar completed her PhD in 2004. His paper entitled Twenty-Two Codes of Freedom: A Social History of Indian Cricket was nominated and published in the Oxford Monograph Series. In the same year, his paper was also published in India. After completing his PhD, Boria spent some time as a visiting professor at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. Since 2003, Boria Majumdar has been a lecturer at the University of Chicago, USA. In 2019, Borea was selected as a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Sport and Health at the University of Central Lancashire, UK.
